We if your looking at 5th wheels remember that the pin weight is 20% - 25% of trailer weight. Dry weight is not worth much. Mine was 10,500# dry but after we made it ours and did a couple of upgrades and loaded our stuff it's around 12,000# (gross is 14,000# ball park) so a 12,000# 5erwill have about a 2,400# pin weight. If you look inside your drivers door is a sticker with the GVWR on it. If you weigh you truck with you and the family, full of fuel and the gear you normally take you'll know your actual weight (add 300# for a hitch if not installed). GVWR is probably around 10,000# and you'll probably weigh around 7,500# so that would be about 2,500# to carry the pin weight. That's a 12,000# loaded trailer. You'll run out of capacity to carry the pin before you'll run out of pulling power.
As for construction both have there advantages and places like RV Wholesalers can save you some money. As for brands it depends upon your budget.
