I was wondering if anyone has converted their twist lock shore power connection to something more robust? I don't really like the current default setup where the shore power cable screws into the side of the trailer and sticks out. I used to have a Class A motorhome that had a built in shore power cable, and it could just hang out a hatch hole on the bottom of the compartment. Has anyone done a conversion like this? If you have, could you please share pictures?

Have you looked at the 90° dog bones? I didn't care for the cord sticking straight out and putting a lot of stress on the plug, so I use one. It works a treat.On Edit: Just noted you stated "more robust". Could you expand on that thought, I'm not sure what you're wanting.

Get a 90 degree dog bone and you will love it!!

Twist lock is actually an upgrade but...You can hard wire a cable in but if the trailer wasn't set up for that, you will have to dedicate a compartment to storage and then run cable from there to the breaker panel. Shouldn't be too hard assuming you can easily get to the back of the breaker panel to do the wiring.

I used PVC pipe and made a support stand that cradles the 50 amp cord right at the connector. It is adjustable for different heights based on campsites. Takes all strain off the screw on electrical connector. Cheap and easy to make.

I got rid of the miserable and dangerous connection in the trailer wall and hardwired the cord.
