If you have not bought the truck yet, I would recommend a long bed, 1ton single wheel. More capacity for load, the long bed means no slider and no chance of hitting truck window and damaging both truck and trailer. Plus, if you decide on a larger rig in the future, you are covered. A friend bought a short bed 3/4 ton, because "that's what they had on the lot". Not only is he overloaded for his trailer, but their 1st trip out, broke out his rear window on his brand new truck, but damaged the front cap on the brand new trailer. The long bed is no problem driving around town, just sticks out of the parking spot a little more. For towing, a long bed is just the right choice, IMO.
