Should We Get A New Hitch?!

Superglide owner here. Yeah, it's heavy. I have an electric cable winch I bought at HF mounted in the rafters of my garage. It snaps that hitch out of there in no time at the push of a button. I lower it onto a cart which I store under the fifth wheel overhang.

Is it adjustable ahead/back? Measure from center of hitch hole, jaws closed, level ahead to back of cab, to check distance. If need be, the hitch pin center, can be right over rear axle center. You cannot expect to back to a 90 degree angle, but most turns forward, should not cause the issue you encountered.

I have the pull rite auto slide, great hitch, never worry about it. The hitch actually comes out easy with the help of one person, or I can disassemble it, and pull it out myself in 15min or less.

Like the others, need to know what hitch you have. If you =do= happen to have a B&W, I can tell you that they will not warrant their hitches if you use a "swiveling" pin box, since it, in effect, moves the king pin back.

I did not gamble with my newer truck and 5th wheel......went to a Pullrite Superglide and do not worry about hitting the with my shortbed.

Yes, what hitch, and how far from the hitches pin center to back of cab? I have towed 2 different FWs with Ford 6'9" beds without issue. The first FW did not have a rounded front like my current one. The one now, with EZ turn does not even come close in fairly tight turns. My B&W hitch pin center is about 40.5 inches from back of cab.

A few inches forward makes a big difference, but I think I could go to 38 inches from cab, to pin center of hitch, and still have no issue. My Ford rear axle center to cab is 41 inches.

Sorry reading this happened. Just curious, can you post a photo of your fifth wheel? I've had two fifth wheels now and have been towed them with no problems. My first hitch was a slider but I never had to use it. I started having some play in one of the rails so I purchased a new non-sliding hitch. I think the problem people are having is due to the cap on the fifth wheel. To be honest, if I had a problem like this I would have a slider.

Took some time today and looked at your fifth wheel, and yes I would have a slider.

Yeah, that is an expensive lesson.:R A Superglide while not cheap takes the worry out of it but slooow turns while watching the trailer corner is the best answer.
