Skylight - Smoked color or Clear?

any answers on inner section that covers up framing? Some I have seen are full covers in that they are just like the outer cover only inverted. Others I have seen are just a flashing type that goes up about 4-5 inches to cover just wood framing.

If you use smoke, and the inner one is translucent off white, I would imagine not much light enters?

Do all of you have an inner plastic section?

My unit has an inner plastic (shaped just like the outer ones). Not sure if it belongs in there as the skylight has been fumbled with by previous owner.

If there is no inner one, how is deck framing covered up on the inside? An inner trim piece?

Without question.....our last 3 rigs have had smoked. Much cooler, let's in just enough light. Pay for the Lexan, it will last for many years. rockin'

P.S. When installing, just snug up the screws, don't overtighten, especially on the 4 corners. The roof flexes on the road and with thermocycling with heat and cool, needs to move a little bit. But you've already seen that with the cracking on yours.

Baja Man, unless you're just addicted to a vertical view, get smoked, then have it tinted limo dark. Either that, or get the skylight plugs.

Need to get a piece of junked F-16 canopy. Has a gold film on the inside to help screen out radar waves. :-) IIRC, the canopy alone was $1,000,000+, when they were first built.

Ours is clear and I like looking up at the trees....until it fogs up, anyway. Does anyone know how much, if any, the smoked ones cut down on heat?

We just replaced our 2 year old factory clear one that had cracks at every screw on Saturday. We went with the smoke one made in Texas (ordered off Amazon, the one with the guy standing on it in the picture) It is a nice piece of plastic. The smoke is not as dark as it looks in the picture though, but any extra help to keep the heat out is good. I would buy the smoke one again if I need to.
