I also agree that if you can round up 3 people, that makes it easier, especially for wide slides. One to pull the leading edge of the topper through the tracks, one at the position where the topper enters the slots to make sure it slides in smoothly, and the third to handle the loose part of the topper kind of like the train on a wedding dress - keep it from fouling, etc.othertonka wrote:
I used tough tops for my fabric replacement. They also have great instructions. believe me it is a 2 person, 2 ladders, job, but if you follow Ray's instructions it is doable. I found that 3 people helps. Look here.Tough Tops When the site comes up, click on the 15 Oz or 18 Oz. Then click on the top bar for DIY video.
X2...DH and I did ours too using Tough Top replacement fabric and instructions...much better fabric than the original. Also agree it is definitely a 2 person job! - kakampersExplorer

It is important that you know what model toppers you have, which end the spring is on and how to immobilize the spring before taking it off. - CloudDriverExplorer

- old_guyExplorerit is easy if you follow step by step directions. go to u tube and look up RV geeks do it your self slide out awnings. they show you step by step with helpful hints and also where to buy the fabric cheaper than at an RV dealers and it is better than OEM. tough top awning is the fabric to buy. I bought from them, their web site shows you how to measure and how to order. it cost me $242 for bed room and living room slides, just the living room at the dealer cost $400 plus. this is a two person job and you will need two ladders. one to pull the fabric and the other to feed it. but that is all in the video.
