Oh yes and I agree...lol..all those 97- current F series trucks have clearly displayed that aluminum hoods degrade rapidly when used in the real world...right...right

Chris, I got the B&W Companion RVK3600 hitch, it has 4 legs that fit into the puck holes and lock down just like the picture frame adapter.

Why did you decide to go with a B&W a few weeks ago then instead of the Anderson?

I opted out on the Andersen back in May of 13' due to the fact that I already had a Reese 5th wheel hitch, just needed the adapter, thus, it wasn''t two weeks ago, it's been quite sometime back...just too tight at the time.. AND I've wanted a 5er hitch like the B&W since they hit the market....Read a lot of good stuff about them and it's the perfect fit for my truck...though so would the Andersen with a drop in ball....guess at my age, using standard 5er hitches for as long as I have, just decided to stay with the same type. The time was right and I've got my picture frame adapter and my Reese 20K Signature hitch up for sale...

LIke I said, I've not heard any negative about the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch..guess I'm just too old to change on some things:)

Jim, didn't you recently upgrade to a B&W Patriot hitch that goes in the four puck holes in the bed? Chris

Besides all the good reasons already stated for its features and capability, its that 30# weight that basically gives me 100# more payload vs the heavier B&W etc. Not to mention if compared to an even heavier slider. This hitch is not difficult to hook up, or at least I don't find it to be. SInce the ball is visible out the back window you just back the ball up to the coupler to where they are almost touching. Lift the trailer a couple of inches then back it in and drop the trailer back down. Can bee hooked up at any angle unlike all the auto slide hitches out there. Peice-o-cake...

As for not having a locking mechanism I could really care less as I know I wouldn't take the time to lock my hitch even if it had the capability. Since you can see the T-handle and the position its in out the back window I feel its safer in this regard compared to a traditional 5er hitch that you can't see the handle from inside the cab. Its also going to be a lot harder to get 2k lb+ pin weight trailer to jump off a ball. Bet you couldn't get it to jump off even if you tried. THis is a mute point as far as I'm concerned.

I have yet to find any negatives about this hitch. And what other hitch can you hang on the wall in your garage.

I have the Andersen aluminum version. I did an unboxing video that shows the height adjustability and placement in my GMC 2500 bed. The chain kit replaces a couple of bolts on the king pin adapter block with 2 special bolts that have loops for attaching chains.
