Spring Hanger Flex Mod

I've had my camper over 2 years and finally made time to decrease the flex over the spring hangers by adding 2x4 tubing. I cut all the metal Saturday evening and got it jigged up for welding tonight.

Steel I cut 2X4 thick wall tubing

Center spring hanger cleaned and ready

Center tubing installed for test fit

Rear and front spring hangers

Rear tubing test fit

Im bad about putting stuff off but camping season around corner so I got get moving. More update later

  • Nice set up.......

Cross bracing is a great upgrade.

Might want to consider one other mod while you're at it
Boxing in the front/rear shackles by welding a plate on shackles
Forward edge of front shackle & rearward edge of rear shackle
  • I did the same thing last fall. I just used 1 1/2" angle iron though. Tightened the whole thing right up. I also did new springs, HD shackles new wet bolts and EQ's too. Mine is going on it's 5th season and it was the second time I did bronze bushings and wet bolts. I'm hoping it will last a bit longer this time now that the side flex is greatly reduced!
