Start of a million questions from Australia

Hi Everyone
Was hoping to get some ideas from you regarding a 24mth trip that we are planning around your lovely country. We plan on purchasing either a toy hauler or 5th wheeler and tow vehicle and were keen to find out if there was a state that was cheaper than any other to start the look in?
Secondly my major concern was how to offload both at the end as i am a little alarmed at how many there are for sale both privately as well as with a dealer.
Are there companys that do long term 12-24mths rentals at reasonable rates that may also be of some intrest to us as well around.
Finally do people offer any sort of "time share " arrangements on their 5th wheelers?
Any advise would be most appreciated.

See a lot of folks from outside the US doing this however.

Just wanted to say I hope you can get all set.

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!
Already on the net looking at Sth Dakota and after riding from Vegas to Sturgis in 2010 know the area quiet well. Do dealers buy back from you in the USA?
  • Last summer we met a couple for Germany that bought a truck and fifth wheel trailer i. south Dakota. They apparently had made the purchase site unseen from a dealer. This way when they landed in the US they were ably to get a one year visa. They landed in October and were nearing the end of their time when we met them. We at the same park met a couple from NZ. Their son was livinging in Canada and had made a purchase for them. So when they flew in to Vancouver Canada they picked up their little motor home qnd took off. They were only going to be about three months, but were having a ball. As far as licensing and registration a lot of peole use South Dakota. There is no taxes and there are plenty of mail forewording companies to establish your residency. License fees and taxes are rwgulated by the individual states. So be very careful about purchasing in states like California where the taxes and fees can add up really fast.
