Step to reach hitch pin

I was wondering what kind or step guys are using to reach the hitch handle pin? I am 6 feet tall I can reach the handle ok but the locking pin on my B&W is too far.Being in my mid 50's and fat the days of stepping on to of the tire are past me. I would like something that is compact and will store easy but is still sturdy enough to support my fat butt.
Thanks

  • I use a 2 step folding plastic ladder. I stand it beside the rear wheel and reach over to the handle to lock it in place or unlock it. When travelling I put it on the floor in the back seat. When not travelling it goes into the bed of the truck. I also use it when fueling up. I have a 50 gallon aux fuel tank right behind the cab of the truck. I'm 230 lbs and it support this old body.

I cut a piece of pvc maybe 1.5 ft long that slides over the hitch handle

How do you put the locking pin in????
  • Had the same issue reaching my B&W handle and pin. I'm 5'7" and 75 so trying to put my foot on top of the tire was not a good solution. I found a tire step on Amazon and it works perfectly plus it folds up and I lay it in the floor behind the driver seat in the truck. Check it out

  • There is a folding step that you can hang on the tire, here is one of many
