How can the ball carry weight when the insert is torqued up on the TO pin in the bottom of the elongate slot. The top of the slot is not at this point touching the pin to transfer any weight to the TO hitch frame.
It you have the new Companion with the stripes under the frame that fit down in the bed valleys, then you are placing your pin weight on the ribs and valleys of the bed. The bottom of the bed has sheet metal top hats that rest on the frame. So the hitch weight load and weight of the hitch is carry by the sheet metal bed and the top hats on the bottom of the bed then the frame, and not directly by the frame like the RVK3600 Patriot style hitch which locks onto pucks mount directly on the frame under the bed.
