I just bought a Fantastic Fan for my '01 Designer 32' Jayco fifth wheel. Cheapest fan model- it has no thermostat, can't even change the direction of airflow.So, now the two decisions are whether to permanently wire it to draw air into the rv or blow it out... as well as which one of the three locations I should install it.Location choices:1. Rear kitchen (although I very very rarely cook in it).2. Bathroom (it already has the barely-effective factory fan installed)3. BedroomSo, if it were up to you, where would you install it, and which direction would you wire it to move air (in or out)?

Hi,I'd put it in the area you live in the most and make it suck (exhaust). You can easily add a switch so it can be changed to blow, too.I've but rarely used the blow feature.

You want to draw cool air in down low to the ground and expel it at the highest place. So place it to blow out. As for placement? Where would it be used the most? Put it there. IMHO the bedroom is probably the worst place to put it. The noise at night might be really annoying for you.Mine is in the living room and we use it about as much as the AC unit.

Since I shower in my RV bathroom, I would install it in the bathroom, set to exhaust, to remove the humidity generated by the shower.Another plus would be that I could open a couple of bedroom windows and turn the fan on to get air flow through the bedroom, and having the fan in the bathroom would help to minimize the noise.So, I vote for the bathroom.I removed the three speed non-reversible Fantastic fan from our kitchen/dinette and installed it in the bathroom, then installed a three speed reversible one in the kitchen/dinette. They are wonderful!

I agree with putting it as an exhaust, and I would do it in the rear kitchen. It would be too loud for me in the bedroom, and you already have a fan in the bath.

Suck or blow... and where's the best spot to do it?

We use ours set on exhaust, and IMO, it should be at the highest (warmest) point of the RV, which in our case would be the bedroom. That also puts it nearby, so if it gets too chilly in the bedroom, you don't have to walk to the back of the 5er to turn it off.

It does create some soft "white noise" - but I LIKE that :-)

While we're talking about Fantastic Fans - that's the one thing our 5er lacks (and I LOVE those fans!). Is it possible that the wiring is already in place, next to the bedroom vent?? When we bought our then-new Class C, it didn't have a FF, and Ed said we wanted one as part of the deal. They happily installed one - I have a suspicion that it wasn't a very difficult thing to do? It's not like I can see wires run to it.

Bedroom exhaust. Use ours most that way. Nice to feel it drawing in cool air from outside through windows right at head of the bed.

In the bathroom on exhaust. You want to remove the high humidity generated when you take a shower. Excessive moisture is not good inside the trailer. Also, it helps clean the air after utilizing the commode. This is VERY important in a small area, especially when my MIL visits and uses the commode.
A good fan on exhaust in the bathroom can draw air through the entire trailer, too. You should have an exhaust fan above your stove already. As for the bedroom, it can be very noisy when trying to sleep.

My first choice would be to mount in the bathroom. Then I would install a DPDT switch so as to switch from intake to exhaust as needed.

Add a double pole double throw toggle switch (with center off position) and have it either way you like at the time.

that question for me is so hard, so I put in three of them just to cover my self. But the main thing to do is exhaust the air in the TT. if you suck you get all the hot air off the outside roof and put it back into the TT and defeat the fan's purpose. Just open a window here and there and let the fan pull in cool air. If you put it in the bathroom be sure you turn it off before you flush the toilet since it will draw the odor from the black tank into the TT and that is another thing you don't want to put up with. they sure do draw the moist air fromthe shower and leave the mirror clear for the shaving part of the morning ritual.

I prefer the bedroom for several reasons:
- white noise at night for noisy locations
- cooling for sleeping in hot locations
- sucking out humidity from nearby shower

If I had to choose I would agree with exhaust, however we find it cools the trailer better in the evening by pulling cool air in than it does trying to blow the warm air out.
