Sun Shade

Lowes/Home Depot sells large roles of Reflec. Cut to fit back window.

We have a sun shade I mounted on the exterior as we have a large window in the rear also. It works great. Keeps the heat out and you can still look out with no problem. Highly recommend. I think I bought it at Tweetys.

I have SunShades on my rig and would not be without them. Dualpane with dark tint is not what you need in the sun. I got over sized shades that would shade much of the side as well as the window. You do need to remember to raise them before you hit the road. Only sometimes with the wind coming from the right direction have I had to raise them because of the wind. Amazon has a good selection at a good price. They come in different sizes and can be custom sized. It is a 2 person, 2 ladder job.

Had one on previous unit...was like a pulldown roller shade but on the outside...got it at camping world...you could touch the glass on the inside and feel the appreciable difference in temp with and without. Well worth the investment. ...

When We wintered in S Texas our lot was situated where the rear window wasn't in the full sun.Our friend had a roll up just like the one I posted and his rear window was in the full sun and he used his screen almost daily.Some people had large side windows with shade on them to keep the hot sun out for a few hours each day.If our space was turned around or we had a different lot then my rear window would have a shade on it,either a roll up or a removable.I don't have one but I know they work by talking to the people that bought them once they got down there.

We had the exterior, removable screens on our DP. We put them on when it was in storage ( middle of a dirt lot in Az sun )

We also used them a couple times while camping.

They worked ok, but not as good as the silver stuff for heat. I think when the sun is really blazing, the best thing to do is remove all sun, but then, like Im sure you are concerned with, your view is gone.

Not sure where to get them, since they came with our old coach, but if you are handy you could make them from the material at Home Depot. Pretty sure its the same material. Or, better yet, have a local seamstress make it for you.

Thanks for the replies. I am really hoping to here from folks who are using the sun screens. I know about the reflective bubble foil.If anyone is using it chime in

We used this material to keep the sun at bay in our Scamp TT & we have made covers using it in the Lance we now have. Works very well. In the Lance, which has sunshade blinds, we placed a sheet of it (sandwiched between to pieces of marine vinyl) between the blinds & the glass in the large window in the slide & in the side bedroom windows. We also added snaps to help hold them in place. Works well.

Reflectix Reflective Insulation can be bought at Lowe's or Home Depot. Works to keep out the heat.
