As one poster stated the primary reason superglide recommends wd-40 for the LATEST versions is not lubrication, but the protection from rust so that no binding will occur on the inner slide surfaces...
I just got a new truck and had them swap the superglide to it so today I checked the install and looked over the hitch...
all looks good except for a layer of dust where it sat for a while...
I rinsed it off, wiped it down, and resprayed with wd-40 while looking closely at the rails... they are shiny after a year in the bed...
I will say from day one it's had a bed cover over it, so that may contribute to the shiny side of it :)
the newer one ride on a plastic like block not metal to metal
