Thanksgiving travel to Kansas City

Campus RV Park in Independence, Trailside RV park in Grain Valley, I think there is one in Liberty but I don't know the name of it. Jackson County has several campgrounds around Blue Springs Lake and Lake Jacomo. KOA in Oak Grove, MO. Lots of choices.

There is a camping world in Grain Valley.

Jacomo is not bad. Not sure where you are staying, but there are lots of places to stay. Are you sure WOF camp grand is closed, I know the park will be, but the camp ground might be open. Although I can see it being closed, the weather in KC in the winter can be a bit unconducive for camping.

My wife called and heard they were closing on the 24th of November. Can try calling again bit the person who answered the phone said they had a note they were closing the 24th!

All of the Jackson County campgrounds (Blue Springs, Jacomo and Longview) shoulde be closed for the season based on their website. Blue Springs is the nicest of the three the county runs linky

Peculiar Park Place off I-49 (ole 71 hiway) 29 miles south Kansas City Missouri.

What part of KC do you need to be close to? Watkins Mill State Park is about 25 miles or so NE of Worlds of Fun. The campground in Liberty is Millers Kampark? Smithville Lake (Crows Creek Campground) is probably 20-25 miles north of WF. Watkins and Crows Creek will have water turned off but electric will be on. Water available at dump station both parks. Don't know much about Millers.

Trailside RV in Grain Valley, Mo is right off 70. Easy access and the staff are very friendly. They have year round camping. Lots of shopping right up the highway in Blue Springs....Target, Kohls, etc!

The Brass Armadillo. Antique mall is just next door. A fun place to browse.

Do you need to be on the north side side of KC? A little more info may open up more locations.

In addition to the previously mentioned Watkins Mill State park, there is Weston Bend St Pk, which is about 20 miles NW of the the airport.
In winter the showerhouse is shut down and winterized, but the pit toilets are open, there is electric available and the frost free hydrants are available in a few places in the park.

not knowing where in the KC area you want to go, when we go through that area we usually stay at Beacon RV Park in St Joseph
