thermal pane roof vent covers

I found a broken roof vent on my FW, after a hail storm went through. Not really large hail, but it only takes one to hit just right. I am thinking of replacing all three covers, with the thermal pane covers. I am curious if any of you have used these, and noticed any difference, with the heating or cooling. My FW is a 4-season, and I do camp in below freezing temps sometimes, as well as extreme heat.

Thanks for any input,

Jerry

    Thanks for the replies guys!

I was hoping to hear from someone using these thermal dual pane vents. They have been around for about 3 years, that I know of. The fact that no one seems to be using them, kind of answers my question.

The Maxx Air seems to be the best solution, and a foam pillow for insulation.

If you are going that route, why not use Lexan?

  • X5 on the Maxx Airs and X2 on the Vent Pillows.
We made our first vent pillows, then found some in Walmart that have the thermal reflectors on one side, only drawback is that you have to remove the handles for them to fit right. Ours are right at 10 years old and still look new.
  • X4 on the Maxx-Air vent covers. For better thermal protection DW made 'pillows' from foam rubber and covered them with fabric to stuff into the opening.

  • Maxx-Airs work great. The black ones keep out most all of the light that comes through. We can hardly wait to try them out in Alaska's 20 hours of summer day light.

No opinion on thermal pane covers (actually, never heard of them), but have you considered keeping Maxx-Airs on all of your vents?

I would not have a trailer without them. Even over a Magic Fan.

I agree Max air's are a must. They will protect your vents covers!
