Thinking about selling 5er & quitting travel?

We don't care much for the FL humidity, congested traffic, close proximity to others in RV RESORTS, and the infrequency of truly friendly neighbors. Arizona weather was better for us last winter, but the extra 2000 miles to get there and back was a real deal breaker. Home at the lake and family in Maine is looking like the better choice for us at this point.

If you don't want to deal with selling it yourself consider consigning it with a dealer, possibly the one you bought it from. Yes, they will take part of the sale but they handle all the phone calls, showings, and can help with financing.
  • Your other choice, keep it, and start looking for volunteer positions for summer camping. Local, county, state, and federal camp grounds are always looking for volunteers to fill their needs. The variety of jobs is unbelievable. And, they actually appreciate their hard working volunteers.
  • Bring the 5ver back to Arizona where it belongs. Leave it here all year. Come down to AZ and enjoy our winter.
  • I would tend to agree with you - These jammed up private campgrounds are a turn off to me anymore. Nothing like investing the cost of a lakeside cabin into an RV that puts you so close to your neighbor his sewer hose is under your picnic table.

I've sold nearly all of mine via autotrader or even Ebay and Craigslist. (RV.net would be good too) They sell when you least expect them too - usually in the middle of winter for me.
  • Sorry to hear that but at least you tried it and later in life you'll be looking back and not saying to yourself I wish I had tried it, no regrets.
  • Sorry to hear it's not working out. Check RVT.com . I have sold 3 motorhomes on that site over the years.

    Good Luck to you.

I got into the travel side of RV'ing only for a short time to realize it wasn't for us... That turned out to be alot of work just to get from point A to point B. It was becoming an expensive endeavor as well as every thing starts taking on the BIGGER IS BETTER... We would have to make room for almost everything we owned to go with us... I was wore down to a frazzle and really didn't enjoy the destination all that much for the first couple of days...

My fifth wheel sits in the back yard now up against the woods line and is our home get-away place...

We were avid TENT CAMPERS in the 50s and up to the 90s so I imagine that had alot to do with us not liking the long road trips...

We continue to enjoy our off-road style of camping with our very modern OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer. Almost all of our RV CAMPING is now done within a 100 miles or so from here in Northern Neck Virginia...

We reverted back to driving our very nice truck for the one or two must do family road roads and rent a nice chalet for the week with all the money we saved...

I'm starting to think an up-grade for us would be a truck camper to give us better on-site security if I can get a handle on how to deal with the supplies and things we love to have with us now...

Presently I can carry some serious supplies and item with the 5X8 front deck on the camper and the truck bed and back seat areas of the truck.

All working good for us at any rate...
We continue to be happy campers haha...

  • RV Trader maybe?

I wouldn't expect to get all of your investment back however. Kinda like buying a new escalade and it gets totaled as you drive off the lot...hope you have gap insurance on that one.

I think they issue might be location of where you may try to sell it. If there are a lot of RV dealers near, might be harder to make a decent sale, but if there are less it might take longer. Guess just depends on the person you find. Some may have a harder time financing such a large purchase without going through a dealer.

Good luck! Hopefully it sells quick and for the amount you want! :)
