This weekends project.

DW and I were getting a little tired of the 9" step to the upper level in the Copper Canyon. So this weekend we ripped out the old single 9" hi step and replaced with two 6" steps (18" total between levels). We also increased the area of vinyl flooring.

This is the only picture of the old step I have!

Where did you get your edge glued ( oak ? ) step material ?
Did you just buy wooden stair treads already bullnosed with the radius corner ?

The stair treads came from Lowes. The were 36" wide cut down to 33" and used my router to bull nose the cut side.
  • Beautifully done. I wish more manufacturers would design for residential step heights.

I'm in the younger crowd and my knees are fine, but those steps are tricky in a dark camper in the middle of the night when I'm headed back to check on the baby (or now my 10 year old sleep walker).
  • and one more..beautiful work. I just redid my step up also but no extra step. Just made an area for shoe storage underneath, got rid of the old shag carpet and used oak..
