our weekend project

Well, it was a great Memorial Day weekend. we smoked a pork butt and we brought the tt home to give it a much needed bath, buffing, and waxing. The weather was perfect for this too. Here are some pics....

Before:

Everyone helped, including my DD and my wonderful neighbor who figured out the way to remove baked on black streaks.

The finished product.

It is shinier than the pictures show. She almost looks new again! It took 2 days to go from grunge to shiny new but we did it! Now what to do with black mildew type stains on the slide out seals?
  • Search this forum it looks like Lemon Pledge works well at removing black streaks? May help in the future.
  • funny story about the pork butt. The meat stalled in the cooking process. We had it on the smoker for 13 hours for just under 7 lbs. Couldn't get the meat temp up. We had to feed the little one so off to dominos I ran for dinner that night. I ended up putting the butt in the oven to finish it off and Now it is tonight's dinner and my helpful neighbor will get to partake in it.:C

The key was to wash, then use a clear coat compound applied with an electric buffer. Then rub it off with microfiber towels. Rinse TT and then use a spray on wax. remember the clear coat compound will strip the wax so waxing is a must. The whole process took 2 days but to be fair, 5 of those hours were spent trying to figure it out without his help. Exhausting but well worth it.

Keep the roof clean and you will have minimal black streaking...

that won't be an issue now that we live somewhere we can get the TT home for a cleaning. For the past 2 yrs, we lived in a neighborhood that we couldn't get the TT in and out of so we were stuck using the local truck wash which did us no good. now the plan is to bathe it about 3 times a year (spring, summer and fall). we also caulked the joints in the gutter where water was falling down the sides causing some of that streaking.
