Yikes, I'm glad to hear you made it home without injury. It's sad that nobody stopped to help you change the tire. Maybe you should think about getting some roadside assistance plan so that you know you can get help in these situations, at least until you're better. Do you have any idea why it blew?
I had a similar experience with my F-350 but it was the left front. Luckily it didn't lose air but it peeled like an orange and the flapping rubber did over $1200 damage to the truck. I pushed my luck by not getting new tires before the trip and I was very thankful we weren't involved in a major accident and injured. Major lesson learned there.
I'm happy you got out, though! That had to have been good for your recovery!
