Your money, your time, your possible claim on your insurance policy. I stick with GY for RV tires.
NEVER a problem.
You have to realize you are paying for those tires to actually be insured at the price they are asking for G614. Back in 2010 I purchased a set of G614's, and they were pretty reasonably priced, today the price is getting outrageous .
Have had zero issues with the G614, but when time comes to buy new ones I will buy the Sailun , good reports, and yes it is my money, and time. Rather a mute point you are making on goodyear paying for repairs if neither tire has a problem, and why give almost twice for a G614 when the same quality of tire is out there for less money. Like many of said I see no reason to buy two insurance polices for tire damage.
Turn in a tire claim that caused damages your rates may not go up. Now with that claim and lets say another let's see what happens.
I have ran two sets of GY G's since 07, 5 years on each set with zero problems that means a lot to me. I also get a good return after 5 years on the used set.
The only thing I have had happen with a couple claims in a short period of time was an increase in my deductible , which after like two years went back to the original deductible. Not once in over 40 years with the same insurance company have they raised my rates because of claims. I insure everything with the same company, car, tuck, home etc. Insurance rates are the least of my concerns in purchasing tires.
G614's are pricing their selves IMO out of sales, their reputation over the years have not been that stellar, but about the only game in town, then along comes a tire like the Sailun with what seems like a better reputation then the Goodyear, so why not purchase them. For the sake of having a tire company pay for damages because of failure IMO is not a great reason to purchase that tire. I would rather have a tire that will have a greater chance of not failing, and so far we are not hearing any problems with the Sailun tires. Time will tell
I do not expect the Sailun tires to perform any different then the G614's . If they do have a failure I will certainly report here for others to make a choice on tires.
We've had quite a few reports on the Sailun tires and up to this point, they've all been good and the tire cost quite a bit less than the G614. They are one of the very few Chinese tire manufactuers that have met stringent ISO standards (Quality being a big one), that makes them a viable product.
I agree that the GY G614 is very pricey and when competition comes around that appears to be a pretty doggone good competitor, then I think it's worth looking at the Sailun tire as an alternative to the GY G rated 614RST tire....Sort of a "learn by doing" experience...We'll see what happens...Right now, the Sailun S637 is a G rated tire worth looking at.
