As a 10 year user, on 2 big heavy 5ver's let me tell you my experience with the LT 235/85R16 Load Range G 14 Ply Goodyear "G614" RST Unisteel Radial Trailer Tire. --- They are simply awesome and well worth the money.
On my old huge 5ver I had the usual 10 ply 80 pound E rated tires. After tire problems that ruined trips, cost money in layovers to pay scalper prices for a new spare before we could move on, repairing damage to the trailer etc, I finally bought my first set of G614's. Never another problem. Pure trip enjoyment thereafter.
We bought our current big Grand Junction 5ver out of state in 2008 or 9. I called my tire guy before starting home and said order me the G614's for installation as soon as I get home. After the install he said what do you want to do with the old but still new tires? I said I dont care what you do with them, I never want to see them again.
I just put the second set of G614's on this trailer 2 weeks ago. Thats right, over 7 years later. I'm always a 4 year guy no matter what the tire wear is. I take care of my tires well with covers and 303 spray. The only reason I replaced them was I told myself I've got to be nuts to be running seven year old tires after all the trips on hot asphalt these tires have made. Still had plenty of good rubber and absolutely no weather checking.
3 things to remember. 1-Your wheels need to be rated for 110 pound tire pressure. Although you may not need 110 for your trailer weight. There is a weight to pressure chart for this tire. I run 100 pounds for my trailers weight. 2- Make sure they install high pressure valve stems. 3-Keep them covered when in open storage.
The tires are amazing. The steel sidewalls and very little tread keep them, when you are jacking it into a tight parking spot, from over flexing your axles and wheels. ----- IMHO well worth the cost.
