I was curious to know if any of you have the TPMS sensors on their trailer tires and what you have your warnings set at. Without getting into the debate of the ST/LT tire thing, I would like to know what your operating tire pressures and temps are when pulling loaded in summer months. Just looking for trailer tire info not TV. Currently I'm running the Maxxis 235/80/R16s so anyone with that tire/wheel setup would be great.

The tire pressure on my truck sure changes from summer to winter. The only sensors I have is built-in with the truck system. I get occasional alarms in the winter months before they warm up some going down the road. These alarms are not adjustable for me as far as I know.If I keep getting low pressure alarms I usually go ahead and re-fill to bring up the air pressure.Roy Ken

The TST system that we have recommends setting the alarms for 20% over and 10% under for the pressures. For ours the rear pressure is set to 80psi and will alarm at 72 for a low and 96. The front pressure is set at 65psi and it alarms at 59 or 78 for the high.The high temperature alarm was factory set for about 165 to 170 degrees F, which I did not change.Only once did we get a high pressure alarm, and that was while driving in the south, in summer. According to IR temp gun, the temperature of the road was about 125 degrees FKen

To answer this question right I have to write about the ST/LT thing a little.ST tires are calculated in their maximum load for more deflection.This cources more heat production so warmer inside tire temperature.But you can also give the tire a pressure a LT tire would need for the same load, so it gives lesser deflection and so lesser heat production.This all is to set the pressure on your TMPS.Then for colder outside temperature you need to set the lowest pressure before alarm to the pressure belonging to coldest outside temperature you asume to experiënce in your suroundings.Then you have to set the highest pressure for alarm to the pressure belonging to boiling point of water so 100degr C/ <> 200 degr F.This temperature the inside tire can get incidentially by severe braking. Then the heat of the brakes is transported trough the rimms to the tire inside. This can happen when descending in the mountains and using the brakes to often, and then its anoing and not good for your concentration if an alarm keeps going off.the tire and valves can stand this higher pressure , they are tested for that and even testing standards for that.If you give data of trailer and tires I can calculate the needed pressure and give the pressures the tires will have at coldest and at hottest, so you can set your borders to that.

WOW, that is a lot of thinking. I adjust the pressure before I head out in the mornings and have never had a problem before I set down for the evening. Yes the pressure increases when the tempos are hotter, but under normal circumstances that would not cause an alarm to go off.
