Too few bolts in frame brackets - Should I be worried
Hi... I just had my fifth wheel hitch transferred to my new 2012 F350 (a Hijacker 16,000 pound slider series). There are 3 brackets on each side of the truck that connect the hitch rails in the box of the truck to the frame of the truck. Each frame bracket has 2 holes in it. On one side I have 5 of the 6 bolts installed (2 - 1 - 2). On the other side I have 4 of the bolts installed (2 - 1 - 1).
Getting the other bolts installed will be a pain. Do I need to be concerned with the bolts not installed? Or would it only be a concern with a heavier duty hitch? The bolts are grade 5, 1/2" x 1.5" long.
The maximum pin weight I've measured to date is 2400 pounds
Appreciate your thoughts
