Towing a 13,500 dry weight 5er?

F350 SRW with tow package will work...DRW works too.

Dry weight isn't so important. Pin weight and gross weight are.

He probably meant it would tow it off his lot and out of his line of sight

Yes your F250 can tow it fine but it will be way over loaded and not safe at all, get yourself a 1 Ton DRW

I did say that it would probably be about 2,000 after we loaded up, and he said, "You don't load your tanks before you leave the house! You load up the water right before you reach your campsite (if boondocking), and you don't leave the house with full grey and back tanks!"

However, if boondocking, on the way back, I might have some of these tanks full?

I guess if we are at a campsite, we would have free water, so we don't need to load the water tanks...and we can empty the grey and black before leaving the campsite. But, we might need some water during travel for washing up, etc...

I've pulled my 14600 lb fiver, dry 13300 lbs, with a F350 SRW and now 3500 DRW and the dually is considerably more stable especially in turns. The SRW handled the weight but was just not as stable as I wanted. Go with a dually and I believe you'll be happier.

Our camper weight states 13500 dry but in all actuality it's never "dry". Go with the dually and you won't have to worry about it. It's a very stable tow.

That Salesman must either wear the same clothes day after day, or does laundry every night and goes out to eat all his meals. If you start just weighing the clothes needed for say a Family of 4, for a two week vacation. I'd bet you would be surprised at how much they would weigh. No add food, cooking utinsels, plates, silverware, and all sorts of misc stuff and it will add up to several thousand pounds quick.
