Settle down guys! This is what I wanted to avoid. Most people get lost in these numbers but they can make sense. If GVWR is 7200 minus 5400 for the truck that makes 1800 available weight to load the truck with. Trailer tongue weight of 1120 eats up alot and leaves 680 for passengers and cargo. 2 people say 300 lbs that leaves 380 for misc cargo. So it is within Ford specs. And yes the tow rating is 9200, way up from years past but the engine, brakes, and tranny are way stronger than years past.
Where do you get that number?? (1120#)
Is that another one of those mfg. published dry hitch weight numbers?
IF so that is 17% of trailer dry weight (6800#/17%----1156#)
OK 1800# payload
300# passengers
1500#
200# hitch
1300#
trailer 6800# plus 1000# stuff (does that include the Harley, food, water, propane, clothes, linen, toothbrush etc??)
7800#-------17% pin weight number---1326#
That is just over payload number.
Course that is IF the numbers are actual/close/in the ball park
Forget that MAX Tow number.....concentrate on what the truck has available to 'Carry'
Forget that dry hitch weight number.....you won't be towing that trailer empty........concentrate on what the wet pin weight would be and IF the truck can 'carry' that weight
IF you get those two numbers right..the other numbers (real ratings) will be OK
