When I first got my 2013 extended cab GMC w/ 6 1/2 ft bed I busted the window out of my 30 ft Alpenlite. After much thought I tried leaving the hitch slid back on a couple of short trips, no problem. I am just finishing a 7000 mile trip w/ the hitch still slid back, still no problem. It handles fine. Trailer is about 11K loaded. I am not reommending this to anyone, just passing it along to let others know it is possible.

Nope! I have a rear entertainment unit. There ain't a toy hauler out there that can haul my toy so I just pull it behind the 5er.
