Towmax blown tires

We have had our 5th wheel for 1 1/2 years. We had all four original Towmax tires blow (at different times). The new replacements are now bad. We kept 80psi in the tires. I am very confuseed as to what the best tire is. At this time I want to sell the rig because I am tired of bad tires. What is the best and safest tire?

  • Maxxis doesn't have all that good of a reputation in the reliability department but they are popular with the smaller trailer crowd.

Many folks with 7k axles on their big rigs have upgraded to a Goodyear G614 G load range at 3750 lbs and 110 psi or the 17.5" trailer wheels and commercial grade LT tires.

We have a toy hauler forum. You may want to ask the mods to move you there. Lots of Keystone Raptor owners over there.
  • Maxxis. Load range E (for us). Blowmax are all gone now (except for the spare).
  • We have a Keystone toyhauler Raptor 36 feet with dual axles holding 7000 pounds each. We do not carry any toys so we are not at maximum weight. We do not exceed 65 mph.
  • What size trailer? What weight? What speed to you travel? You have not provided enough information to make any sorts of guess.
BTW this is in the wrong forum. I have asked the moderator to move it for you.
  • For trailer tires, Maxxis seems to be best by consensus and I agree with them. I am also a proponent of a TPMS as no matter how anal you are at checking the tires for defects and pressure, you can easily pull out and pickup some debris and then have a tire with low pressure and you wouldn't even know till it heats up and blows.
