TrailAir TriGlide

I have a Trail Air Tri Glide on a 2013 38' Mobile Suites, I think the Tri Glide is failing been noticing more clunking on takeoff welds all look good and I have kept it greased. I would like to replace the lower jaw with either a solid pin or maybe the Rotoflex, any opinions on them? Where can I purchase just the lower jaw?

  • OP were you greasing the three points up inside the device visible from the back side?

I grease mine about every 1,000 miles or so. I tow 23K with about 5,800# pin. I have towed the RV about 9K.

So far it has been quiet and works well.

Contact Lippert, they may swap you out with a solid jaw or at least cut you a good deal on a jaw replacement.
  • Our Tri glide has been great. Hopefully that continues. We had some clunking so I Installed some Curt rubber damper pads between our B&W Patriot hitch and rails . Worked perfect nice a quiet no more clunking.
  • ***DO NOT TOW YOUR TRAILER***

Yes, your Tri-Glide is failing and your trailer could separate from your truck. I had two of the three rollers fail from welds that broke. It started with banging every time I stopped or started. If the hitch plate is dipping in the rear you have a dangerous situation.

The Tri-Glide portion of that hitch is no longer in production. NHTSA has been notified of the hitch. Over on the Dutchmen Forum we have a long thread going about this hitch's failure. One hitch owner found that his Tri-Glide portion was only rated for 18,000 pounds and was installed on a 21,000 TrailAir. My warranty replaced the entire hitch with just the upper TrailAir portion and towing has been great since.

Here is a photo of my failed Tri-Glide.

I do not know the answer. I have one too.. you should be able to slide the slide by hand (hard push) when not attached. at least I can
