- nevadanickExplorerTwo bumper pulls are perfectly legal in Ca and those online towing law guides are worthless. Contact each state individually that you want to tow in. This coming from experiance not hearsay.

In Calif you can tow doubles if;
You have a CDL with doubles endorsements,
The first trailer has to be a 5th wheel,
no trailer can be more than 28' long,
total length cant be more then 65'
I have towed them for years and only been pulled over once, I had a 33' 5th wheel pulling a single quad trailer. I was lucky the Hwy patrol said he wasn't sure but he thought I could only have a trailer up to 28' and let me go.
Check the change in law Dennis. This requirement was stricken about 3 years ago. - DennisVRExplorerIn Calif you can tow doubles if;

You will probably get stopped as not all LEO know the laws and some just dont think its right. I found that out from personal experiance.

5th wheel or goose neck I think. Very few states allow 2 tow behinds.
Sorry, but of the 39± states that allow RV double towing, only 4 require the 1st hitch to be a 5th wheel. All other states allow double ball tows. - EyetattooExplorer

I found a good site with info for all states.
California does allow two towables. However, you must have a commercial class A driver's license in order to do so.
Here's a quote from the license requirements "No passenger vehicle, pickup truck, or RV may tow more than one other vehicle without a Commercial Class A license with the proper endorsement."
I haven't done a lot of research, but I believe you are limited to 65 feet total length when towing double. There aren't apparently any restrictions on whether it needs to be a fifth wheel or a bumper pull.
