The speed limit for trailers in Utah is 65mph. There has already been numerous complaints about people ignoring the 80mph speed and going in excess of 90mph. Did you see the reporting on channel 4 documenting this? The thing is people go 100mph with a mini-van full of kids----outright stupid!
I've tried to find the speed for towing on the Utah gov website but can't find anything -- they have speed limit buried somewhere. I did find it on other sites, but they don't reference any rule or regulation.
A few times a year I drive Northern Utah to St. George. Most of the time, I would estimate the fastest driver around 85-88 (in an 80 mph zone) with the average driver speed probably about 80 (not the usual 5-10 over). I find most people seem to drive the speed they are comfortable and I think a fair number of the cars on the road aren't comfortable at 80+ mph so people don't go that fast. Even with the current speed increase to 70 from 65 here on the Wasatch front, I'm surprised it hasn't really moved everybody up to 80 mph as I expected.
There's always those dumb people going super fast and there are a lot of highway patrol between Nephi and St. George.
I drive from the Salt Lake Valley to Provo regularly-there isn't anybody that goes 70mph.
