Truck bed mat with 5th wheel hitch

When I had mine, I trimmed the mat to go around the hitch rails. but I put the tool box on the mat. I liked the mat better than the cheap dealer spray in I have now. The mat deadens sounds and protects the bed better.

I have a Andersen Ultimate (without rails) mounted to a B/W.. They cut an opening for the B/W ball and the Andersen frame sets on the plastic liner...

I also cut a mat to fit around the hitch rails with my first truck. I also had a second mat to put over that one when the hitch was out so no issues at all with cargo catching on the rails.

I have cut out rubber mats to fit around rails, on several different trucks. It worked good for me, and when hitch was out, the rails were almost a non issue. Only thing, if you want to completely remove mat, you will have to remove hitch first.

Take it out completely. And have a quality spray in bed liner installed. You will not regret it. No more water being held against the steel bed.

I have cut rubber floor mats from around the hitch rails and it worked well. This last time I bought a Bed Rug instead. For the record while it looks like a rug it is not and is totally impervious to gas, bleach, etc. It is very comfortable to kneel in the truck bed now. The bed rug was also much easier to cut well around the rails. Just another idea since it's working for me. Good luck.

I have a thick Bed-Rug that I trimmed to fit tightly around my bed rails. It works perfectly and does not affect the hitch connections at all. Another benefit is the Bed-Rug is as high as the rails to things slide in and out smoothly without catching on the rails.

Thanks for responses. I'm leaning toward having the 5th wheel installer cut out around the rails. I think I'll do some searching for photos or visual examples of what others have done.

We do have the LineX sprayed in, we did that first thing before we took possession of the truck. We also have the Retrax retractable bed cover and so far while keeping it closed the bed has been totally dry. That won't be the case now having it open at times to acess the hitch.
