TST Repeater for TPMS

Ok, I just installed a TST repeater at the back of my 39' 5th wheel trailer. I notice on the front of the repeater there appears to be some type of button or light. I'm not sure which it is. If it's an indicater light, then I obviously have a problem because it's not going on. There were no instructions with this so am not sure if there is anything to show if it's working. I figure someone on this forum is using the same thing. Thanks!

  • It updates the pressure and temperature but I don't know how often. I doubt 5 min. If the pressure starts dropping rapidly it is immediate. A slow leak will show up and set off the alarm when it reaches the preset low.

If it blinks once when you get a signal from a wheel sensor that will occur about every 5 minutes. The wheel sensors send signals about every 5 minutes.

Can you help explain this a little better? I don't understand. If the sensor sends a signal every 5 minutes it seems to me that it is possible that you could have a tire failure for 5 minutes before knowing it?

I put mine in the front bay and yes it has a light that blinks when it gets a signal from the wheel sensors. Works very well on our Montana/Ram combo.

If this is true you can determine if the repeater is receiving all of the sensor signals. If you have ten sensors as I have you should see 10 blinks in a 5 minute time period.

Myself I have found an external antenna mounted under the TV on the receiver hitch works best when towing a 5th wheel with a utility trailer behind the 5th wheel. Does not require a power source and is completely weather proof.

  • I'll repeat what everybody else has says: don't put at the rear of the trailer, at the rear of the tow vehicle is fine.
  • Ok.thanks all for your replies. I think I have more of a ground problem. I'll check it out. I thought maybe it was a light. Thanks again.??
  • Mine glows red to indicate power, blinks when repeating a signal from a sensor. I suggest you call TST as it seems like it may not be working. Are you sure you are getting good power to the repeater and have a good ground for the negative wire. Might try connecting repeater directly to the 2 battery terminals to be sure it does not work.
  • The red indicator light is on when 12v power is applied ,and should be located toward the front of the trailer as possible .
  • My TST repeater has a red light when it is on.
  • Why would you install it on the back? It's supposed to pick up the signal and amplify it, then send it on to the receiver in the truck. I have one that I haven't installed yet so I don't know anything about the light but I always thought it went on the front of the trailer which makes sense to me. If you call TST they will answer any questions you might have..
