Scott,
If every insurance policy in every state were exactly he same you could make a statement like that.
Some tow under any conditions.
Some tow only in conjunction with an accident.
Some provide flat tire and fuel outage coverage.
Some provide none of this.
You get what you pay for and/or what your company offers.
You can tell everybody how YOUR insurance works, but you cannot tell us how EVERY insurance policy works.
VERY well said!..;)
"ScottG" - same ScottG with the misguided geography for the "unlearned" in a tire thread??..:@

Our insurance covers towing for the truck and 5th. So we are not using Good Sam etc.
Other than POI on a Garmin, has anyone come across a USA wide phone number for wrecker service ? Bob
So your insurance covers towing. Most likely as part of your collision policy. That's ok for when you get in an accident and get reimbursed as part of your claim. For break downs you'll need a Roadside Assistance Plan. This is where Good Sam and Others come in....
That's not how insurance towing coverage works.
If you get towed for any reason, they cover it up to the policy limits. They wont cover changing a tire or a repair but they will cover towing it to a shop (or even your home) that does that kind of work. - greendeExplorer II

My Nationwide policy offers roadside assistance. When you call the 1-800 number, they call a local tow service which calls you back.
I have Nationwide insurance as well and that's what I do. Haven't had to tow the 5er yet but it worked well for the car. - rattleNsmokeExplorerMy Nationwide policy offers roadside assistance. When you call the 1-800 number, they call a local tow service which calls you back.

- SkiSmuggsExplorerI have Roadside Assistance through USAA and I just call them.
