Like others we always carry some water in the fresh water tank. When you run the pump it provides water just as if you were connected to a water supply.
Don't know about KZ, but some units have a "fresh water fill" switch near the fresh water hose connection. On mine I can rotate the switch while connected to the water supply and it will redirect water to the fresh water tank. Turn it back for normal use. I also have a fresh water fill cap, but rarely use it since I have the switch.
