Basic RV water system......

Fresh water tank fill is via a gravity fill port on side of rig OR via a fill valve located on a water panel inside a side compartment.
The 'city water' connection is where you connect hose when in campground with water supply.
On-board pump takes water from fresh water tank and runs off 12V DC power from your batteries and/or converter.
We always travel with 1/3 tank of water.......
Great for those 'rest stops'
And then when at campground with water we fill it just in case campground water source should become unavailable (power outage etc.)
Couple of times we were the only ones with water when campground water was shut down (power outage & a main line break)
We always fill our tank FULL when heading out to dry camp.
