I'm not sure I fully understand either, but I wanted to make a point that hasn't been made. If dry camping, you will use your freshwater tank, in my case, 30 gallons. If you fill that tank and take off down the road, when you put your pump on, it will pull water into the hot water tank.
I'm pretty sure that I noticed that after I fill the tank and it appears full, I then run the pump and it will put 6 gallons in the HW tank and allow another 6 gallons to replace it in the freshwater. I would then have a total of 36 gallons of freshwater on board.
Am I right? Old-Biscuits diagram seems to support this.
