I said I would weigh prior to my trip to AR and I did. The F-150 with a full tank, Wife, 2 medium size dogs, Harley full dresser, and everything we took weighed in at #11460.
Breakdown:
Front Axle: #3560
Rear Axle: #3140
Trailer Axle: #4760
I'm not exactly sure how to calculate tongue weight, so not sure what it was. I'm estimating the TW was around #550 to #580 though. That puts the TW within okay guidelines I guess.
The truck towed pretty good all things considered. I really need to adjust the WDH, but Etrailer.com put the adjustment bolts on so freaking tight I can't loosen them. The WDH was originally installed by Etrailer.com for my Tacoma, so it needs to be adjusted after I get the bolts loose. It was really windy on my way to AR, so I got a fair amount of sway, but it was manageable even without sway control which I have yet to install. I really want to see how she tows with the WDH set up correctly and with the sway control added.
I can also report the VRV handled a very severe storm Friday night. Heavy rain for over 6 hours, high winds, thunder, lightning, and a tornado warning. It was a scary and long night, but we survived it. I was very impressed that the VRV didn't leak one drop with all that rain.
Pretty happy with the VRV overall. Some things I like are it's light, easy to load Harley, built to last, only 6' wide, so easy to pull in tight spaces. Some things I don't like are the AC is LOUD!!! Unless I'm missing something, there is no way to adjust the fan to cycle on and off? No counter space really. I'm going to have to get creative in how to make the VRV easier to use. Maybe I'll add some wall mounted table or shelves? Could use a bit more storage, so maybe add another cabinet somewhere. Very hard to find places to put everything while camping. All of the minuses I pretty much new going in, so I can accept them. The good far outweighs the bad.
Here's a pic from this weekend.
