Wall Mart Rules?

Hi all! We’re not new to the RV scene but we are new to a ‘08 Montana 34RL and will be embarking on a full time RV life beginning in Sept. I need someone to settle a disagreement I have with my wife.

If you’re using a wall mart parking lot, is there a time limit, do you or can you d/c the truck from the trailer to check things out, and do you typically open all slides while parked there?

Thanks in advance for responses; this will be the 1st of many queries I have as awe prep for our next adventure.

    We never camped in a parking lot although have pulled in to grab a few hours sleep in a pinch. We much preferred to set camp and put our feet up with a cold one in a more relaxed setting. We were seldom in such a hurry that we had to push to the end of the day then hurriedly look for a place to crash for the night.

    Opinion: if you are going to be going full time then stay in campgrounds most of your full time...

    Walmart is for an occasional one night stop over and then move on down the road...

    disclaimer: we have been RV'ing for over 30 years and have never 'camped' at a Walmart.

    I see the worn-out, junky looking campers at the Walmart near me. They're such an eyesore. I guess there are those in new Dutch Stars camping at Walmarts but I've never seen them. Is there something wrong with RV parks?

    Totally agree. Just understanding how people use (or avoid) the cheap or free nights stay.


    Well, believe it or not, I have seen RV parks that looked worse than that. And no, we avoid those if at all possible

    Check in with the manager, do some shopping there and generally be gone the next morning.

    It's not a camp ground or RV park. Most people use Walmart for over night and do not disconnect nor put out the slides.
