Warranty For Life???

First of all who's life? And as some have already explained the truth is in the details of the contract. Above and beyond those things is this just another way of justifying a higher cost for the rig? If you can get warrenty for life at or below the cost of other dealers than go for it, otherwise I would be a little skeptical!

When I was looking at a new RV at a dealer here in WV the unit I was looking at the Lifetime Warranty on it. The dealer gave me a brochure that detailed what was covered and what was not covered. As stated by someone else it was mostly basic coverage on the listed components. The only real caveat was that had to have the annual maintenance performed by a dealer. I asked if it had to be them and they stated no but it had to be a dealer that performed the work. As far as cost I assume that it is built into the price since they were offering it as a free item.

Personally I don't think it is a scam but that is JMHO.

Most things are covered for 1 or 2 years depending on the manufacturer.. I personally think it is a scam and price built into cost of unit, and I'd "want it in writing" if I had it checked out at another dealer and 6 months later something happens, you take it back to your original dealer...wonder at THAT time what they would say...Find it extremely hard to believe that 8-9 yrs down the road they'd replace spring packs, landing gears, slide motors. maybe a refrigerator, convection oven and on....couch that has gotten some on it over the years? Naw, not buying it....

I rather just pay to have stuff fixed as it happens or fix it myself. For the past 20 years of life for my 5th wheel I have replaced or had replaced/fixed:
Control Board for the fridge
Coil Unit for the fridge
Several Batteries (set of 4 about every 5 years)
4 sets of tires mostly due to age
Leaf Springs
2 sets of brakes
Resealed the roof
Couple of plumbing leaks
1 new toilet
1 generator
1 A/C unit
1 Awning

About $8000 in parts and labor. With exception of tires, batteries and brakes, the majority of this started after the rig was 10 years old. Most of this stuff wouldn't be covered by the waranty.

And then later on:

The third benefit to his dealership occurs when his salespeople can sell customers additional coverage that isn’t covered by the lifetime warranty, he said.

“We can still upsell customers on other coverage, like paint and fabric protection, extended service contracts which cover components like slide-out motors, hydraulic jacks, and much more and emergency road service, that isn’t included in the lifetime warranty,” said Bender. “Offering a lifetime warranty shouldn’t deter customers from buying a service contract to cover the other items, especially on larger RVs.”

It makes you wonder what it really covers.....

Probably have to take it in and get it inspected every so often and first time you miss, the "Warranty for Life:R, is no more....just another stupid scam

I wouldn't buy a camper from them if they're slinging that kind of offer around....wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw a MH.

Who's life we talking here? Yours, the RV, or the dealer. Normal wear and tear included or just Manufacture defects. I see no value in such nonsense.

That is good info you can use in your buying process. If a dealer offers it, run the other way.
