Washing/drying in RV

We have the Splendide Washer/dryer combo, (vented)...never had one until about 2 yrs ago..The DW loves it..We own a camp in WVa...no Laundromats near by, so the wife does small loads when needed.....again, she loves it and doesn't have to drag clothes home to be cleaned if we leave the camper at our site.....

Like I said, it's controversial, but each should do what suits them best. We just don't like doing laundry; so, we go out, get it done, then forget it for up to two weeks. It costs more, but we have zero issues that everyone doing laundry on board point out: read your own posts- 3-4 loads several days/week. Washer noise. Long drying time. Just having to mess with it constantly! No way. Laundromat for us. Quick, read a book, no W/D maintenance, no lint traps, .... Go for it if you're the domestic type.

Kinda hard to flood the rv from a laundry at the rv park. Enough reason for us and we also like the big closet.

Well, SHADOWS4, you probably are not that far off. Prior to our first Splindide unit being installed we had to use laundry mats and it wasn't cheap. I didn't do the math but I would be willing to bet you could pay for that RV washer/dryer in a year or two.

Figure $12 - $15 per week in quarters. Maybe $2 - $3 on fuel depending on if laundry facilities are at CG or down the road. Come on, you will spend at least $600 a year that you will never get back.

If you want the extra storage space that a washer/dryer takes up, and you only do laundry once every 8 - 16 days, then as a full timer you have WAY TOO MANY CLOTHES in your RV! I would get rid of a bunch of those extra items and do a couple of leads of laundry in the comfort and safety of your RV twice per week.

Same here! We have plenty of clothes to go for a couple weeks or more. We prefer the storage space.

You couldn't pry my Whirlpool stackables away from me....I wash once a week 3 to 4 loads...do laundry while puttering around the house doing other things so it is not an inconvenience. Plus, mine are very quiet...only hear it when washer goes into spin cycle.

Not true. Read how it works. It heats the clothes causing the water to turn to vapor, then uses cold water to condense the vapor back to water, then drains that water (the cold plus the condensed) down the drain. It does not go into the RV. But it does use a lot of water.

From Splendide web site about their ventless washer/dryer:

The WDC7100XC's condenser dryer system requires 2.5 gallons of water per hour during the dry cycle. This is a sealed system that will not add heat or humidity to the surrounding area.

I have seen similar in action, they do produce moisture outside the unit. Just my experience.
