Washing/drying in RV

I found one second hand for a really good deal, hardly used. We had no rough-in or ready made space. I made some adjustments in the closet and put it in there.

A 220 vac dryer would be fine if you only ever stay at places with 50 amp hookups. If 30 amp you are out of luck as it would not work.

OK, here's the best kept secret in RV washers and dryers. The combo machines only do small loads and you must plan on when to wash then switch to dryer. In our unit we went with Bosch separate side by side washer and dryer in the 23" wide apartment units. Had the outlet for dryer changed to 220v by electrician and it dries a load in about 2o-25 minutes. There that's the secret - Bosch separates work like magic and you CAN stack them if you want.

I know a dealer in Amarillo that has a unit that has all the bells and whistles, chrome front, and all. Someone needed more storage space so he removed it. I think he said it was a 1700.00 dollar unit new. This one has barely been used, and can be bought for 500.00. I looked at it and its just like new. I was tempted, but also must have the storage space.

I don't like our Splendid. Clothes wrinkle. I would prefer the stacked combo. You can wash one load and dry another at the same time. I would go with the vented stack pair.

We've had the stackable Splendide Aristons for 7 years now and they are perfect for us on the road. If you have the room for stackables (ours are actually side by side now), I would go for those. The Dryer is 110V so its slow, but will work off 30A service or even a generator if necessary (done that going down the road before :)), but the Ariston dryer capacity is nearly two wash loads of the Ariston washer so if the first load isn't quite done, just add the second and move on with the next load.

PS, never had a failure with these, and they are designed for RVs (low water consumption, high speed spin to assist with drying, floor brackets, etc.)

I purchased a non-vented unit several years ago. I paid around $1000. Used it for a few months and removed it.

We now have a stacked washer and dryer. We love it.

If you have the space I would recommend a "conventional" washer and dryer.

X-2 Not having one would be a deal ender for us. Remember how expensive micro wave ovens were when they first came out and when you finally bought one you realized you couldn't live with out it. Same thing on the W/D in your RV.

But Pinnacle makes a "super dryer" with dual exhaust fans that drys faster and comes with a 5 yr warranty.

Allot of campgrounds are adding monthly fees for RV's that have washer/dryers. In our current CG, it is $15/month extra.
