waste tank repair?

I had the exact same stinky issue on black water tank. I cut out the problem area. Found an old busted rv tank at a parts supply for next to nothing and cut a large patch. Screwed it down owver the hole and cut out a new hole for the pipe. Sealed everything with ABS glue. Then I sealed all that with Eternal bond tape.

Pulled the trailer for years with no smell or problem. I would do it again. Cheaper and easier than buying a new tank.

Had a leak at same location on previous rig while on the road. I sanded the spot and applied several layers of JB Weld. Worked for 6 years.

Vote for G-flex ,they cut a plastic(poly) kayak in half and then glue it back together ,then ride it down a gravel pile in Bay city mi.
Incredable I never thought anything could stick to that material.

If you are set on repairing, rather than replace the tank, you could use ABS Cement.

I have used this method on previous trailers, and never had a failure.

You would have to dry and clean the damaged area, then use ABS pipe cleaner, from any hardware store. Then you need a piece of fiberglass screen, similar to what is in your RV screen door. Cut the screen to a larger size than the actual break.

Now apply ABS black cement to the clean surface, and quickly press screen into the wet cement to cover the damage, plus enough screen, and cement, to attach to the good area.

You need to let dry, and then add three to five more thin layers of just black ABS cement, letting each thin layer dry before adding the next.

Sounds like a dirty job, but if it has to be done..........I would research and see what sealant will stick to that type of plastic first

Yeah, I agree. The biggest problem is access. It sounds like you already have good access since you've worked on it a couple times. I just ordered a brand new tank through Amazon and it only cost $138 and, since I'm an Amazon Prime member, there was no shipping cost and I had it in 3 days! Can't beat that. Why mess with continuing to try and repair it when a replacement is so cheap. The tanks only come with the outlet already in it so you do have to get fittings and drill holes for the inlet, air vent, etc. but that's not a big deal.

I'd try eternabond. Never know, seems to stick to anything but silicone.
