Water Hookup for W&D

I have a 2000's ish Alpha Ideal fifth wheel. I found the cabinet that the W&D goes into.. right now it has shelves ... but I can see 2 each for a total of 4 110v electrical plugs in the back of the cabinet that is for powering the w&d. This cabinet shares a wall with the back of the toilet, so I assume this is where the w&d will be fed water and where it's drain will be. But the wall is solid... so am I going to have to drill holes in it to get the washer hoses to the toilet? And if so, how do I connect them to the water? There's no hot water there, so it's only cold water? What about the drain?

Thanks for any help.

  • The only advice I can give you is you’re not going to get a w/d successfully installed by yourself. And even if you find someone who knows what they’re doing it’s major surgery if the utilities aren’t roughed into that closet you “found.”

  • Since Alfa went out of business long ago, your best bet if you want to tackle this as a DIY, is look online for pictures of your model and see if you can find one that has the W/D. It might give you an indication of where/how the plumbing is. Don't overlook that you also need to cut a hole to the outside to install the vent. Have you looked online for Alfa FW owners groups? The other option is take it to a dealer or RV tech and have them rough the plumbing and vent in for you. It could also be that your unit was never prepped for W/D. Typically, if a unit is prepped from the factory the plumbing is all there in a washer/ dryer prep box with hot, cold and drain and a template to show where to cut the hole for the vent. If yours doesn't have it it's probable that it is not prepped and without a lot of invasive plumbing you won't be able to hook it up.
