Waxing My Unit

I did mine all by hand last year and started again last week. The nose was heavily oxidized along with alot of bug******so I bought a 6-speed 7" orbital buffer at Harbor Freight for $30 and now the nose looks shiny new. I prefer to do by hand which for me takes an entire weekend followed by a long soak in the hot tub. An electric power tool can easily burn, marr, or leave nasty swirls and you need to be extra careful around the decals. I use mostly all Meguiar's products along with Aerospace 303.

This kit worked exceptionally well for me - Meguiars-Marine-Fiberglass-Restoration

I did our 36 ft fiver with Mcguires Flagship liquid wax,expensive ,but the best i have ever used.I used a 8 inch foam mop with 5ft handle to apply the wax, worked fantastic,a little hand work in the tight areas,used a terri cloth wrapped on the end of the mop to remove most wax and buff it.I also used a orbital buffer on the lower sides for touch up. By far the best and most enduring wax job on the fiver,ive had it detailed professionally several times,looks great but does not last or have the same feel.

We use mequiars spray on wax. Spray it on, wipe it off. Easy peasy. We do buff our trailer with compound whenever it gets black streaks. Our 30 ft tt gets washed, buffed and waxed twice so year. It is going on 3 1/2 yrs old and looks brand new. Our neighbor details cars and turned us on to this stuff.

You can get various buffing attachment for your drill at Harbor Freight. However as mentioned. Buffing with an electric, or air buffer "CAN" burn the paint, and it "CAN" leave swirls if you are not careful, and have never used a buffer before. Mequires goes on, and off easily by hand

My MH that is 39' and is now 10 years old since I purchased it. I have washed it before each trip and waxed it twice a year by hand with Collinite #845 Insulator Wax http://www.collinite.com/automotive-wax/.

Matter of fact I wax every vehicle I own with it, including the two Avion TT's I previously owned. It is so easy to wax by hand, that you do not need a power tool of any kind. People comment my MH looks like brand new, even the Precision Painting Company, that painted all of the Travel Supreme MH's, when I go there for service.

It also makes my classic 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix look like new, when I go to car shows, helping to win many awards.

By the way I am 74 y.o. and do it all myself.

Me? My mind tells me I'm like 20...but my body on numerous occasions reminds me of my real age....I've done a lot of research over the years and know what to use as far as cleaning and waxing of the 5er and care of the roof. ... I don't use "cheap products" ,you learn a lot over the years...I'm even like another poster, when I wash my 5er, even if I waxed 5er 3 months ago, I may put another coat on the front cap again, seeing as how it's the part that usually get's the most abuse when towing.

Hey, thanks for the "kid" comment though...I do stay pretty "wide open":)....

So where does this wax come from that will last 2 years...never seen any wax or polish last 2 years on a vehicle or an rv.....I will spend FARRRRR less than then the $300, get some exercise, and do all of the above and know the job was done right....and well. So you don't have to wash the unit at all for 2 years? Nah, I'm too cheap...$300 every two years....maybe one day when I'm not able to do the job, but not now....:) Still want to know what wax last 2years...shines for 2 years....
