Weight Question

Looking at purchasing a Attidtue 32SAG which has claimed weights of?

Attitude 32SAG
GVWR - 13,500
Dry Weight - 9,180
Hitch Weight - 2,160
Axle Weight - 7,020

This is a tandem axle 5th wheel with 6,000 Lb axles. If the axle weight is 7,020 isn't that over the 6,000 Lb axles? Or am I missing something?

You getting one with a slide out? Highly recommend as it doesn't compromise much storage space and really opens up the living area. We really like ours.

I still haven't been able to determine why despite both having 6k axles the 32SAG has a 1600lb higher GVWR than the 28SAG.
Yes a slide is a must! Our must haves on the new rig is 16ft of toy space, a walk around front sleeper and a slide. The 32SAG was the only one we could find that had all three.

Eyetattoo you must be excited about buying your new rig I know you've been researching this for a while!! I did the same thing, I asked everyone and found this message board and a bunch of very smart and knowledgeable helpful people here.
Yeah we are excited but in all honesty we were planning on waiting another year or two. Depending on how the insurance company handles our frame cracks might push us to upgrade much sooner......

Ok thats what I thought but for some reason when I saw the axle weight I was thinking on each axle vs on both axles. Is hitch weight the same as pin weight?

yes... Pin weight is the hitch

I Might be confused also...but if each axle carries 6000 lbs then you have 12K capacity on the axles alone...also doesn't the hitch carry about +- 20% of the weight?

Correct... so if "you" don't go over 13,500 GVWR then there should be plenty of axle capacity when some of the total weight is on the hitch

  • Axle weight of 7,020# is TOTAL weight on both axles

Notice GVWR is 13,500 with double 6000# axles which would be rated to carry 12,000# TOTAL

Which actually gives a pretty decent margin.........at 13,500 GVWR the pin weight will be close to 2600# (or more) so only 10,900# would be on axles if rv was full loaded to Max weight rating.
