We should be getting some rain by then. It's been pretty smokey in a lot of Oregon. However, if the fires persist, head for the Oregon Coast. The prevailing west winds keep the smoke away and September into October is one of the best times to visit. Many state parks have reserveable sites if you prefer, but many are not crowded then. The coast south of Newport tends to be way less crowded. Have fun.
