This is getting very frustrating! I have an upset wife because I won't get the Coachmen 301. What will my truck haul??? I'm sick of looking so recommendations are appreciated. I'm sure most of you know but just in case.Ram 1500, 5.7, 3.92 gears, 6" lift, 35" tires.She wants a toy hauler with a door to the garage. However, we'll look at TTs as well if my truck can pull it.

Didn't you post this before? At any rate, those 35" tires are going to kill your gearing and limit what you can pull. Put the appropriate tires back on your truck and you'll be able to tow up to your ratings - otherwise cut them in half.

The 301 grosses at 10,000 lb, your truck will be a slug with that weight especially on 35's and you will have a battle on your hands in a good wind. You will also likely exceed your towing capacity. Can you seriously consider upgrading the truck?

No they don't. That xt276 is nice. Exactly the same weights as the 233rr and 7 feet longer plus a slide out. I had never run across one of those before. How'd they make it so light?

They filled the tires with helium. :) I'm not sure how they did it, but we love ours.

Sort of The Tail-Gator became the NRG which became the Energy. Slightly different each time, but basically the same thing same factory.

So to the OP, Mr. Gebrown:

You have my complete sympathy. Most of us have been in your exact same position where we had to struggle to find that sweet spot where budget, desires, and safety intersect. I really do feel for you. The fact that you're agonizing over this decision means that you have enough brains to actually think it through. Too many people just pull the trigger on the wrong setup and then they regret it down the road.

I think that's way too much for 1/2 ton, dude, it's 30' long! even at 5800# empty behind a lifted 1/2 ton I would not advise it. You need to be looking at trailers under 25'. As I said I KILLED a Chevy 1500 towing a 24' Wanderer, went through 3 transmissions and it had a bad rod knock when I sold it. Plus it was white knuckle towing if it was a bit windy.

Don't know what you'll be hauling but the contents add up FAST!

Why do you insist on a separate garage? That's what's driving up the length/weight.
