Replacing the 245/75/16 tires on my 2005 Duramax. I tow a fifth wheeler with a 1700# tongue weight. I am looking to replace the narrow factory wheels (if necessary). What is your opinion on the best tire for towing with this rig?
My '02 D'max has 265's on it. You pick up about 800 lbs' tire capacity. After having 6 of 8 BFG Long Trail and Rugged Trail TA's separate on me in 8 years, I'm now trying my first ever set of Cooper Discoverers. I do like a bit of an aggressive tread because I do go off-road some. I know I pay for it with a slight drop in mileage. The Coopers are =very= quiet and ride nice, even at 80 psi. The only thing I've noticed about them is that they want to follow road seams more than the BFGs did. Don't know if it's because they're new or just the design.
