Whenever you encounter a problem, even if you think you know what the answer might be, take a pause, have a sit, maybe do something else. Often, the solution will become more apparent after a break and, conversely, a move made in haste will often further complicate the original problem.
Actually, that advise is meant for (in my case, anyway) systems repair. For example, don't start fiddling with the propane burner on the fridge that is not working until you make sure the propane is turned on. Sometimes that takes a break for the logic to set in. :)
As for backing in... Here's a tidbit for that. Success or failure is determined in the approach. When I'm approaching a site, I turn toward it and then back the other way as I'm passing it and getting my back wheels next to the far corner. So... before I put it in reverse, I'm already angled properly. At that point, backing up is just a continuation of the position I've already set. This works with motorhomes as well as trailers. With a trailer, just as you're finishing your setup, turn your tow vehicle wheels so it is in the same arc. Again, once in reverse, you're simply continuing and making only minor adjustments.
